4th Sunday Show Gets a New VenueFor some years the “4th Sunday Show” has been held at Knights of Columbus Hall on Center Street, West Haven. Unfortunately the building has been sold and will be turned into commercial offices. After some hard searching by the Show committee, an agreement has been reached to hold the show at the Annex Y.M.A. on 554 Woodward Ave., New Haven. The rental with be slightly higher than the K of C Hall, but the Annex will set up the tables and chairs for us (what a deal!). The first show at the new location will be held on 25th September.

In Our Thoughts …We were all shocked to hear of Mark Watts’ sudden illness. We wish him a speedy recovery.
Chris Komondy Buys The James Bendon Ltd Stock of Philatelic LiteraturePhilatelic book publisher, James Bendon based in Limassol, Cyprus, has announced the sale of his stock of philatelic literature to Chris Komondy of Triad Publications llc. James Bendon writes in his webpage: “After some fourteen years in the philatelic literature publishing and distribution business, last year I decided that I would like to spend more of my time on other philatelic, and non-philatelic, activities. It was important to find the right person to develop what I, and my wife Rida, had created. It was most fortunate that I got to know Chris Komondy, of Triad Publications in Chester, Connecticut, who has the necessary qualities. I am sure that Chris and his team, once some teething problems have been solved, will be able to look after your needs in the field of philatelic literature as we have tried to do.” We wish Chris the best of luck in his new venture.
Reserves to Be Introduced for Club Auction LotsDuring a recent meeting there was considerable discussion about the weekly club auction. Some members felt that some items were been sold off at “give away” prices and proposed that a reserve price be set for club lots. The auction is one of the few sources of income for the club and therefore it is not in the best interests of the club if material is sold at a loss or at break-even prices. Lots that do not sell at the auction get good prices at the club table during the 4th Sunday Show. The reserves will be around 15% of catalog to there will still be bargains to be had. Members who submit their own lots for the auction can apply whatever reserve they please. No More Nickels and Dimes |
