The New Haven Philatelic Society held its annual stamp show, SONEX, on June 25, 2006, at a new location, the Annex YMA, on 554 Woodward Avenue in the Annex section of New Haven, the first time in many years that this show has actually been held in New Haven. The show coincided with the June Fourth Sunday show.

For quite some time, this stamp show was jointly sponsored by the New Haven Stamp Club and the Cheshire Stamp Club. However, the Cheshire Club disbanded and the remaining members joined the New Haven Philatelic Society. SONEX was an acronym for Southern New England Exhibition, reflecting the joint sponsorship.

This year’s show had many dealers well known to the hobby, offering stamps, covers, cards and ephemera, as well as stamp collecting supplies and literature. Also featured were door prizes, and a group of one frame exhibits, shown out of competition by New Haven club members, plus one frame of exhibits by members of the East Haven Hagaman Library Kids Stamp Club.
